PPE vs. Covid Virus

I made it! This is what nurses and other healthcare providers whisper on their minds each time their work shift finishes. Heroes – that’s what patients called nurses during the worst years of Covid Virus pandemic. Those years that many patients have died and so many individuals felt helpless. Tragedies that can be prevented if only people knew what to do.

Working in healthcare field is not an easy task. This is a profession with zero tolerance for any error. Some may call it, “the mission impossible job”. Any simple mistake can kill someone who is a loved one of somebody. A child, wife, husband, father, sibling of someone and more. Many healthcare providers left the industry and change their profession. Some retired early and some decided to work virtual.

In these life and death challenges, there is one common thing that connects nurses and ordinary people who do not work in the healthcare system. Both are known as “ALIKE and HEROES”. This bridge and connection shouts for one common goal – prevention and healing. The common thing that some people are doing already on their daily activities. What is it? See below.

It is called Sanitation and Proper Hygiene! Yes, these two links and bridges health care workers and community stakeholders. Most of the time, the nurse teaches and educate admitted patients and community members on how to properly use Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) https://amzn.to/3Txytsc and significantly reduce the spread of infection. To promote community service further, everyone must do their fair share – spread this golden knowledge about PPE. Hand-washing together with appropriate PPE such as head caps, masks, gloves, gowns, goggles and more can save million of lives. Each of these gadgets can save lives in many ways if properly used https://amzn.to/3Txytsc. The habit of hand-washing each time you assist a sick person, touch any contaminated surfaces, and handling body fluids inside or outside the hospital can break the chain of infection. Place sanitizers in your house or office entrances. It will extend a chance of another happy life to many individuals.

Easy right! So please, everybody needs to be mindful in breaking the chain of infection and eradicating its source. Remember! masks for airborne viruses and wind circulation, the gloves are for contact and touching any suspected contaminated surfaces as well as for body fluids like urine, feces, emesis and blood. The “fifteen seconds rule” of hand-washing using antibacterial soap or sanitizing alcohol can kill the virus and stop the spread of infection significantly. These are effective preventative measures that everybody can use to decrease the spread of diseases. However, this virus is not going anywhere. This disease will now be a part of every life – young and old; and will be continuously mutating to create different virus variants that destroys life.

To all out there, be heroes like the nurses. Help each other and stop the Covid virus from spreading and killing helpless individuals. We learned our lesson well in the past. Let’s face the present and prepare for the future. Do hand-washing and use Personal Protective Equipment properly and YOU can save a LIFE.

During the pandemic, I saw the importance of having your own PPE. Having the virus in March 2020 when it is at its peak, i saw the importance of having a face mask 😷 aside from isolation. Who would want to infect your own family members? This pandemic showed us a big lesson, let us learn from it😀

Your article on the effects of the Covid virus in our lives, particularly focusing on the crucial role of nurses and healthcare providers, is both insightful and inspiring.

My parents and wife are all doctors, my dad is a heart surgeon, mother a hygiene specialist and my wife is a cardiologist. So I have had my fair share of worries about Covid-19, and despite being vaccinated, all of us contracted the disease more than once.

The way you capture the sentiments of healthcare workers and the challenges they face, referring to them as heroes, resonates deeply.

The emphasis on the importance of sanitation and proper hygiene, with a specific focus on Personal Protective Equipment, is a key takeaway. Your call for everyone to contribute to breaking the chain of infection by spreading knowledge about PPE and adopting preventive measures like hand-washing is a powerful message. It reminded me of medical history – Ignaz Semmelweis who was credited as the pioneer of hand hygiene. He was a Hungarian physician who noticed a stark difference in the mortality rates of women giving birth in the clinic. He hypothesized that the doctors who were also performing autopsies were transmitting “cadaverous particles” to the mothers, leading to infections, so he implemented a policy of hand-washing with chlorinated lime solution, and the mortality rate significantly dropped.

Moreover, your reminder that the virus is not going away and will continue to evolve underscores the need for a sustained effort in adopting these preventative measures. We can see Covid-19 still being present, and dangerous.

Thank you for shedding light on the importance of collective responsibility in combating the spread of the virus, and for your dedication to creating awareness. Looking forward to your next blog!

Thank you Marko. Yes, my article aims to spread awareness to people with limited insights regarding protection and illness. You are lucky for having multiple medical expert in your family. With their knowledge and support, for sure – you are in a good hands. Four years ago, hospital is the safest place for someone who are sick – not anymore nowadays. I wrote another article about that. I am glad that you can relate to my subjects and topics.

Again, thank you so much for your valuable feedback!

COVID may be a one-time pandemic of a lifetime experience for many.

What can be more stressful when you are dealing with an unknown disease that is taking life in front of your eyes? Many brave doctors, nurses, and healthcare professionals have also been victims of treating patients.

The key to minimizing COVID transmission can simply be practicing general hygiene.

The use of N95 masks inside and outside your own home used to be a general practice during the pandemic and still, many people are following up until now even if the COVID is announced to be over.

Washing your hands with soap, using sanitizer after you touch people or objects of contamination (the general mail from the mailbox!), cleaning your shoes if you have gone out before stepping into your house.

This post offers awareness and offers sources to purchase the protective wares.

Now and then I see the news of COVID-19 appearing again in another form.

I feel lucky, and alive today and pray for the world to be safer.
